This Land use and Zoning Plan for Diani Municipality is a ten-year plan for the facilitating and guiding control of development, land use and zoning within the municipality. It was conceived in the year 2021. The objectives of the plan include; to develop zoning policies for regulating the use of land; and to facilitate provision of necessary infrastructure and services; coordinate the conservation and protection of both urban and marine environment; support the local economic rejuvenation and vitality of the resort city as areas for economic activities;

The municipality will benefit by obtaining a responsive land use and zoning plan that will assist the municipal administration to organize the urban space, streamline transportation and mobility and improve the socioeconomic status of the residents. The plan has adopted a multi-nodal urban development structure to take advantage of their different urban characteristics.
