The project’s inception occurred in December of 2020, with a scheduled completion date of January 28th, 2021. The primary objective of this assignment was to conduct a comprehensive survey of all facilities, including proposed dam areas, water treatment plant sites, reservoir tank sites, proposed bulk pipeline routes, and proposed outlet kiosk sites. The ultimate goal of this project was to facilitate the provision of sustainable water supply and sanitation services to communities in drought-stricken areas within Kenya, beginning with Makueni county. This was accomplished by providing accurate data and profiles to the client in a timely manner.

The Mbooni water treatment and distribution plant is a water and sanitation project that was initiated by Onesmerc International Trading Company (OMITCO) in 2008. OMITCO is a legally registered business entity under Chapter 486 of the Kenyan constitution. The project was established in recognition of the fact that in many semi-arid areas in Kenya, weather conditions, characterized mainly by prolonged droughts and episodes of flooding, severely limit access to clean water and hinder productivity.

B. Scope of the project.
The assignment’s scope encompassed the provision of engineering and topographical survey services throughout the feasibility studies, conceptual and preliminary designs, project design, and project implementation phases for the proposed Mbooni Water Treatment and Distribution Plant’s construction. This involved establishing primary and secondary benchmark points, also referred to as survey controls, conducting detailed topographic surveys at various facilities, preparing final topographical maps and sections, and submitting the final report.
